G League Delaware Blue Coats

Blue Coats Travel to Lakeland to Take on Magic

March 8, 2022 - NBA G League (G League)
Delaware Blue Coats News Release

The Delaware Blue Coats (13-6) travel to Lakeland, Florida for a two-game series with the Magic (7-13) this week, with the first tipping off tonight at 7:00 p.m.

It will be the first meeting between the two squads in the 2021-2022 season. They last met nearly a year ago on March 11, 2021 in the 2021 NBA G League Championship Game. The Coats came up just short, 97-78.

For Delaware, tonight's game is an opportunity to exact avenge last season's loss, but it's also an opportunity to continue their successful 2022 campaign. They currently sit as the third seed in the Eastern Conference, so leaving Florida with at least one win will go a long way in their playoff push.

They enter tonight's matchup with momentum after a convincing win against the Westchester Knicks on Saturday, 146-111. Lakeland, too, looks to continue recent successes, as they have the opportunity to extend their current winning streak to three games after defeating both the Grand Rapids Gold and Fort Wayne Mad Ants last week.

Two players to keep an eye on will be Braxton Key and Jared Brownridge; the only two players on the current roster that played against the Magic in last year's title game. Both players take the court fresh off of strong scoring performances against the Knicks, each posting 26 points.
