
Vipers Obtain Comeback Victory over Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (17-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, pulled away with a 117-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Blue (12-14) on Tuesday afternoon.
Oklahoma City got off to a hot start as the team led with a score of 41-25 at the end of the first. Going into the second quarter the Vipers picked up the momentum and outscored Oklahoma 34-23 which decreased the lead for the Blue 64-59 at the half.
During the third quarter RGV once again outscored Oklahoma 34-32, but the Blue still led with a score 96-93. In the fourth quarter the Vipers put pressure on Oklahoma City. With 9:45 remaining in the quarter RGV took its first lead of the game with a score of 97-96. However, one minute after Oklahoma tied the game 99-99. The Vipers increased the pressure during the last minutes of the game which allowed RGV to secure a 117-107 victory over Oklahoma.
Marcus Foster hit a career-high 26 points. Mfiondu Kabengele (24 points and 11 rebounds), Trhae Mitchell (career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds) and Anthony Lamb (13 points and 10 rebounds) all hit a double-double. Tyler Bey contributed 12 points and eight rebounds.
Four of the five starters for Oklahoma City hit double digits in scoring with Zavier Simpson leading the way as he finished the game with 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Jaylen Hoard totaled 23 points and seven rebounds. Jahmi'us Ramsey contributed 17 points, five rebounds and five assists from off the bench. Both Rob Edwards and Scotty Hopson added 13 points each.
RGV and Oklahoma will face off in a rematch on Thursday, March 10 at Paycom Center. The game is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT. and may be streamed via ESPN+. For more information visit www.rgvipers.com.
