The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell to the Delaware Blue Coats, NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, 128-118 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
The Magic hosted the Blue Coats in the teams' first matchup since Lakeland bested Delaware in the NBA G League Finals nearly one year ago. It was a back-and-forth first half that saw 16 lead changes and eight ties. Jeff Dowtin scored 19 of his team-high 24 points in the first half as Delaware took a one-point lead into the break.
Devin Cannady continued his hot shooting for the Magic, sinking six threes in the first three quarters to help Lakeland regain the lead going into the fourth. But Delaware's Braxton Key and Charles Bassey, on assignment from the 76ers, helped the Blue Coats take and maintain the lead down the stretch.
Dowtin's 24 points came on four threes and over 66% shooting from the field. Cannady finished with 22 points and six rebounds. Magic two-way player Ignas Brazdeikis added 21 points.
Key led all scorers with 26 points and nine rebounds. Aaron Henry posted 22 points and six rebounds. Bassey finished with 21 points and eight rebounds.
The Magic and Blue Coats square off again on Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 PM at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. Fans can tune in to watch on Bally Sports Florida.
