IN THE NIK OF TIME: Grand Rapids Gold guard Nik Stauskas has been named the NBA G League Player of the Week for gamed played Monday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 6. The eighth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft averaged 50.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists, leading Grand Rapids to a 2-0 week. Stauskas poured in a franchise-record 57 points in the Gold's 131-127 win over the Wisconsin Herd on March 1, and followed it up with 43 points in its 124-119 victory against the Lakeland Magic on March 2. On March 4, Stauskas received a GATORADE Call-Up, signing with the Boston Celtics.
SPURS OF THE MOMENT: Over their last seven games, the Austin Spurs are 5-2 and find themselves in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. The frontcourt of Jordan Murphy and San Antonio Spurs assignment player Devontae Cacok are giving opposing teams fits on the boards. In this seven-game span, Cacok is averaging 16.0 points and 14.7 re- bounds while Murphy is adding 12.3 points and 11.4 rebounds. Austin returns to action tonight at home versus the Agua Cali- ente Clippers at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
EIGHT ISN'T ENOUGH: The Long Island Nets are currently riding an eight-game winning streak, the longest in the NBA G League this season. The Nets are led by Tyrone Wallace and Craig Randal II, who are averaging 26.5 points and 26.3 points, respectively. Long Island will look for its ninth-straight victory when they host Grand Rapids on March 9 at 11:00 a.m. ET on ESPN+.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons (Agua Caliente Clippers, 2018- 19) has delivered since stepping into a more prominent role for his team. The 2021 AT&T NBA Slam Dunk champion is averaging a career-best 17.3 points punctuated by a career-high 43 points on Jan. 3 in Portland's 136-131 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Salt Lake City Stars guard Carsen Edwards tallied a career-high 46 points in his team's 126-122 win over the Iowa Wolves on March 2. Edwards added seven assists, five re- bounds and four steals.
Motor City Cruise forward Cheick Diallo shot an efficient 10-of-12 from the field en route to 20 points and 20 rebounds in his club's March 3 triumph over the Westchester Knicks, 121- 116.
Sioux Falls Skyforce guard and NBA veteran Mario Chalmers dished out a whopping 13 assists in the Skyforce's 110-92 win against the Texas Legends on March 4.
Maine Celtics guard Chris Clemons poured in a personal-best 41 points on March 6 to lead the Celtics past Raptors 905, 125-118.
