
Bloomington Rallies Late Over Thunder

BLOOMINGTON, IL- The Wichita Thunder lost 5-4 to the Bloomington Prairie Thunder at the US Cellular Coliseum on Saturday night.
Wichita led 4-2 in the third, but Bloomington rallied for three unanswered goals to win the game. Jason Deleurme scored his second of the night at 8:49 to pull Bloomington within one, backhanding the puck under the crossbar with Peter Delmas committed to the left side of the crease. Brett Holmberg tied the game at 12:47, jamming the puck off the back of Delmas' right pad and into the net. Jason Dale scored the game-winner, shooting from between the right corner and left post at 13:34. Matt Robinson was awarded a penalty shot with 1:04 left in regulation after Bloomington was called for a delay of game, but Bloomington goaltender Marco Emond made the stop.
Wichita used a three-goal attack in the second period to take a 3-2 lead. Trailing 1-0, and right after a Wichita power play had expired, Bobby Hughes scored on a rebound to tie the game 1:54 into the period. After Bloomington went ahead on Kerry Ellis-Toddington's two-man advantage goal at 11:07, Daniel Tetrault re-tied the game with a slapshot from the right circle at 14:14. Robinson setup the score, gaining the offensive zone one-on-two before making a drop pass to Tetrault.
Wichita took the lead at 18:15 on a goal from Jesse Bennefield. Just after another Thunder power play had expired, AJ Gale carried the puck down the right boards and broke towards the crease before shooting on Emond. Bennefield scored on the ensuing scramble in front of the net. Robinson scored at 6:20 in the third on a Wichita power play to make it 4-2 Thunder.
Jason Deleurme scored the first goal of the night at 2:53 in the first period. Deleurme snuck a second rebound past the left side of Delmas on an open puck left at the edge of the crease.
Delmas was 27 of 32 in the loss. Emond earned the win, saving 37 of 41. Wichita was 1 for 7 on the power play while Bloomington was 2 for 5.
