Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
LAREDO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (12-12-3) completed their four-game road with a victory, something that was commonplace while on the road as the Bees finished the road trip a perfect 4-0-0. The Bees defeated the Laredo Bucks (9-12-4) by a score of 5-3 on Saturday night. Brett Wilson scored two goals for the Bees while Tomas Klempa and Aaron Lewicki each picked up a pair of assists. Klempa also scored a goal for a three-point night.
The first period saw a pair of goals, one by each team. The Bees struck first as Brett Wilson scored his seventh goal of the season. Wilson came in on a two-on-one with Aaron Lewicki. Lewicki was able to fool both the defender and goalie Torrie Jung and then fed it to Wilson who one timed the puck into the open net.
The Bucks tied just one minute later on a Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel shot from the point that slid past Pagliero. Joe Scali and Aaron Boogaard picked up the assists.
In the second period the Bees would rally for a pair of goals. First Tomas Klempa would score his team leading 13th of the season with a shot from inside the faceoff circle that beat Jung glove side.
Less than three minutes later the Bees made it a two-goal advantage when Dan Gendur scored his first goal since returning to the Bees. Gender came off the bench in neutral ice and found himself alone with the puck. Gendur came soaring in the zone and ripped a shot that beat Jung blocker side.
Just 11 seconds into the third the Bucks would cut the Bees lead back down to one with an unassisted Neil Trimm goal.
Once again, less than three minutes later the Bees would increase the lead back to two as Brett Wilson scored his second goal of the game. Wilson would score with another one-timer this time off a feed from Tomas Klempa from the opposite end of the ice. Aaron Lewicki also picked up an assist.
The Bucks would cut the lead down to one goal with less than five minutes remaining as Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel scored his second of the game at the 15:13 mark.
Juliano Pagliero and the Killer Bees defense would bunker down for the final five minutes of the game holding off each Laredo advance.
Sean Muncy would ice the game at 19:56 with an empty net goal and the Bees would complete the perfect road trip.
The Killer Bees will face the Laredo Bucks in their next two contests as well, starting at State Farm Arena December 21 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at killerbeehockey.com or calling 956-843-PUCK.
