Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets were edged by the visiting Dayton Gems Saturday night 3-2 at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum in front of 7,131 Fort Wayne fans.

Sean O'Connor scored Fort Wayne's first short-handed goal of the season at 9:03 of the first period unassisted. Leo Thomas hit the net on the power play 3:20 into the second to give Fort Wayne a 2-0 lead with an assist from P.C. Drouin. Both Thomas and Drouin extended their point-scoring streaks to four games. Thomas has two goals and two assists while Drouin has a goal and three assists in the four-game span.

The Gems came back with three unanswered goals beginning with a power play tally by ex-Komet Brandon Naurato at 10:03 of the second frame. Brett Lutes scored at 3:59 of the third followed by Dayton's second power play goal at 12:17 by Matthew Larke to seal Dayton's fourth win in as many meetings against the Komets. Fort Wayne's winless streak grows to seven games.

The Komets outshot the Gems 34-16 in the match and were one for eight on the power play while Dayton tallied two power play goals on eight chances.

Fort Wayne netminder Kevin Reiter registered his sixth loss of the year making 13 saves. Gems goalie Jeff Jakaitis stopped 32 shots for his 10th win.

The Komets fall to 5-15-1 after 21 games and Dayton improves to 13-9-1 in 23 outings.
