Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

North Richland Hills, Texas (December 18)- December continues to get more chilly for the Brahmas who saw a rough first period and could never recover the hole they were in and dropped a heartbreaker to the Jackalopes 4-3.

New goaltender Jeff Harvey was minding the net for the Brahmas when Dave Van Drunen scored the first goal for the Jackalopes less than 2 minutes after the puck dropped to start the game. Two minutes later, Jeff Peirce gave the Jackalopes a two goal lead, but the Jackalopes were on the attack and determined to increase their two goal lead. With 9:48 left in the first, Dominic Leveille put one through the pipes, giving Odessa the 3-0 lead. The final goal of the first period came when Darryl Bootland put another goal past Harvey with 1:47 left in the first.

The Brahmas came out with scores on their mind when Jim Burichin scored only 1:26 into the second period to put the Brahmas on the board. With goaltender Wayne Savage behind the net and Brahmas defense stepping up, the Jackalopes found the Brahmas net much harder to find. With 5:49 left in the second period, Greg Hogeboom scored the Brahmas second goal of the night and cut the Jackalopes lead in half 4-2.

Third period in Brahma Land saw even more aggressive play by the Brahmas who were fighting back to overcome the deficit they incurred in first period. With 8:57 left in the third, Brahmas Captain, Jason Deitsch scored to bring the Brahmas within one point of the Jackalopes 4-3. With 6 seconds left, Brahmas never had time to capitalize on the Power Play.

Although the Jackalopes didn ‚¬â„¢t score any additional goals beyond first period, it was enough to hold the Brahmas off and give them their second loss in as many days.

The Brahmas start a two game road trip Tuesday with a game in Tulsa and visit Odessa on Saturday, December 26. Games can be seen on
