Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen began a stretch of five straight games at home this afternoon as they welcomed the Memorial Cup host Kamloops Blazers to Seven Chiefs Sportsplex. The last time the two teams met was on February 22, 2020.

Kamloops opened up the scoring courtesy of Caedan Bankier just 11 seconds into the first period. Daylan Kuefler would follow up with one more in the first giving Kamloops a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. Ryan Hofer and Shea Van Olm added two more in the period to go up by four. Carter Yakemchuk was able to get Calgary on the board at 12:14 in the second for his 10th power play goal of the season. The second year defenceman has seven points in his last six games. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third period, making the final score 4-1 Kamloops. Shots finished 50-20 in favour of the visitors.

Ethan Buenaventura earned third star of the game making 46 saves in today's contest. The goaltender reached the milestone of 50 WHL career games.

Calgary returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome for a morning start against the Winnipeg ICE on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 11:00 a.m. It's the annual TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game.
