April 28, 2025 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
Buccaneers rookie forward Blake has been named to the All-USHL Rookie Second Team, capping off an impressive debut season. Joining the Bucs at just 16 years old in December, Blake made an immediate impact, playing in 41 games, scoring 13 goals, and adding 19 assists for a total of 32 points.
Selected third overall in the first round of the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft, Blake quickly established himself as a key contributor. His ability to be in the right place at the right time, combined with his high hockey IQ and relentless work ethic, has made him an asset to the Buccaneers lineup.
Blake's work ethic is one you don't often see in many 17-year-olds. He brings a consistent drive to improve and is always willing to learn and grow his game. Since arriving in Des Moines, he has shown tremendous development, thriving alongside experienced teammates who have helped him elevate his play and mature into a strong presence both on and off the ice.
GM and Head Coach Matt Curley stated, "It is fantastic to see Blake recognized for his outstanding season with us. He is following in the footsteps of other great, young players for us in Ben Kevan and Ilya Protas, both of whom excelled as first year players with us last season. Blake had the year he had despite only coming in at Christmas. It speaks to how talented a player he is and exemplifies the type of person he is. I can't wait to see what he can do next season- congrats BZ!!
His leadership qualities were evident throughout the season, and he was recognized as the USHL Forward of the Week on April 14th. Committed to Providence College, Blake continues to prove why he's one of the league's top young talents.
The Buccaneers are excited to see what the future holds for Blake as he steps into an even bigger leadership role next season.
