
Blades see two get called up, one assigned from AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that forward Ross Carlson and defenseman Aaron Brocklehurst have been recalled to the American Hockey League and defenseman Benn Olson assigned to the team from the AHL.
Carlson makes his second trip to the AHL this season as he heads up to join the Rochester Americans. The 26-year-old has seen action in 27 games with the Everblades this season, scoring 21 points (10g, 11a). Carlson saw action earlier this season in the AHL with the Peoria Rivermen where he played in three games, scoring one goal.
In addition to his two call-ups this year, Carlson has now played with five different AHL teams in his three-year career, joining Providence (2006-07), Rockford and Houston (2007-08). The Duluth, Minnesota native recently skated in his 100th career game as a pro on January 18 in Florida's 4-3 win at Charlotte.
Brocklehurst heads up to the next level to join the Lake Erie Monsters. The call-up is the first in the rookie's career. In is first season after wrapping up a four-year collegiate career at St. Cloud State University Brocklehurst has seen action in 36 games with the Everblades this year, notching four goals and 15 assists. The Nanaimo, British Columbia native was one of three players representing the Everblades in the recently played 2009 ECHL All-Star Game.
Joining the Everblades is rookie blue-liner Olson. The 21-year-old began the season with the Albany River Rats where he saw limited action in six games, recording one assist. The 6-foot-4, 215 pound native of Port McNeil, BC finished off a four-year junior career in the Western Hockey League last season.
As a member of the Seattle Thunderbirds in 2007-08 Olson played in 71 games, picking up a career-high 12 points and a career-high 266 penalty minutes. In addition to Seattle Olson also spent time in the WHL as a member of the Kamloops Blazers.

The Everblades return to action on Friday, January 30 when they travel to South Carolina to take on the Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. The Everblades return home to Germain Arena on Tuesday, February 3 when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:30 from Germain Arena.
