
Blades honoring fallen Ft. Myers police officer Andrew Widman this weekend

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades return to Germain Arena this weekend to resume play following the ECHL All-Star break. The Everblades return to the ice Friday and Saturday nights as the best team in the ECHL with their 58 points and .763 winning percentage.
The weekend series against the Gwinnett Gladiators is highlighted by the Everblades honoring fallen Ft. Myers police officer Andrew Widman on Saturday, January 24. Saturday night is "Beach Night" at Germain Arena and the Everblades will be wearing special beach themed jerseys that will adorn a memorial patch for Officer Widman. Following the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off live, with a portion of the proceeds raised being donated to Officer Widman's family.
In addition to the players wearing the beach themed jerseys, Germain Arena itself will take on a beach theme on Saturday night! A live band will be performing before the game and during the first intermission on the concourse and 1,000 beach balls courtesy of Vitamin Water will be handed out as fans exit the arena! During the game two lucky fans will win a pair of passes to Key West thanks to Key West Express!
Once in the arena, fans will notice a "beachy" theme throughout the building! There will be specialty food items available and there will be reduced prices throughout the arena on specific tropical cocktails! Members of the Big Cypress Club will also enjoy free prizes for correctly answering Jimmy Buffet trivia, and staff members at Germain Arena will be dressed in beach attire!
The Everblades kick the weekend off by hosting their annual "Pack the House Night!" on Friday, January 23. It's the Everblades' yearly try to set a regular season attendance record at Germain Arena! Gather your family and friends to come on down to cheer on the Everblades as they try to extend their current winning streak to 10 in a row!
