Boise, Idaho - The public is invited to a free skate at Qwest Arena from 1-3 pm on Sunday, February 22, presented by Qwest, the Idaho Steelheads and the Idaho Statesman.

Idaho Steelheads players will be available for autographs and to help people learn to skate. Prizes will be given away and the Idaho Steelheads' mascot 'Blue' and Qwest's mascot 'Spirit' will all join in the fun.

Jim Schmit, President of Qwest for Idaho said, "This is a great opportunity for family and friends to gather and enjoy an afternoon together. We're pleased to take part in this event and offer the community a unique chance to skate on the home ice of the Steelheads."

In addition, children who completed the goals in the Qwest Hat Trick Reading Program, sponsored by Qwest and the Idaho Steelheads in partnership with local public libraries (Boise, Ada Community, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, and Meridian), are invited to attend. Upon scoring the hat trick, children have a chance to earn hockey tickets, a cap and a free skate. The program runs through Friday, Feb. 20. More information can be found at local participating libraries or by visiting www.idahosteelheads.com.

A limited number of free skates will be available for children and adults free of charge, thanks to Qwest Arena and Idaho IceWorld, but participants are encouraged to bring their own skates if possible.
