Salmon Kings All-Stars Shine In Skills Competition

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announce today that All-Stars Dan Gendur and Dylan Yeo won their individual events at last night's 12th Annual ECHL All-Star Skills Competition presented by Guardian Wear.

Dan Gendur showed off his speed by winning the CCM U+ Fastest Skater with a time of 13.69 seconds, he narrowly defeated Wheeling's Aaron Clarke who crossed the line with a time of 13.82. Gendur also helped lead the National Conference to a win in the team portion with an average time of 14.15, while the American Conference averaged a time of 14.22.

Next was Dylan Yeo's turn to show his stuff in the Reebok O-Stick Hardest Shot Competition. The ECHL's leading scorer among defenseman clocked in with a speed of 97.7 mph. Trenton's Matt Cohen, representing the American Conference, finished a close second with a shot registering 97.1 mph. The American conference bested the National side with a team average of 93.9 to 92.9mph.

Both Gendur and Yeo both were unsuccessful in the Guardian Wear Breakaway Relay, but in the end the National Conference came up with an overall victory of 9-7 in the seven event competition.

The Reading Royals, the City of Reading and the Sovereign Center will host the 17th Annual ECHL All-Star Game tonight at 4:00 p.m. PT.

The Salmon Kings head on the road for a three-game set in Las Vegas this weekend. The first two games (Friday and Saturday) of that series go at 7:30 p.m. PT and the third game (Sunday) at 2:05 PT. The Stockton Thunder then come to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Jan. 27 & 28 for a two-game set both games go at 7:05 p.m.
