
Hrabal, Paukovich Assigned From Springfield

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced the Oilers have assigned rookie defenseman Josef Hrabal (RAW-bull) and center Geoff Paukovich to the Thunder from Springfield.
Center Cory Urquhart, reassigned to the Thunder on Tuesday, Jan. 20 on the eve of the ECHL All-Star Game, is also expected to re-join the Thunder immediately following the ECHL All-Star break.

Paukovich, 21, is making his second passage through Stockton in as many seasons and has skated in 97 career games as a pro with the Thunder and Springfield, scoring 30 points (14g-16a) while posting 128 penalty minutes. A second round selection (57th overall) of the Oilers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Paukovich suited up in 70 games for the Thunder last season, scoring 13 goals, 26 points (13g-13a) and amassing 94 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-4, 216-pound center, who added a goal in six Kelly Cup Playoff games last year, has skated in 27 games this year for Springfield, scoring four points (1g-3a) and adding 34 penalty minutes. Paukovich has skated in Oilers training camp the last two seasons.
Hrabal, 23, has skated in eight games for the Thunder this year, registering four assists and eight penalty minutes. An eighth round selection (248th overall) of the Oilers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Hrabal has added one assist in 17 AHL games with Springfield.
Hrabal was selected in the eighth round (248th overall) by the Oilers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and spent the previous six seasons with Severstal Cherepovets of the Russian Superliga and in the Czech Republic's Tipsport Extraliga with HC Vsetin, skating in 173 career games while scoring 44 points (12g-22a) and amassing 175 penalty minutes.
The Thunder returns to play after the All-Star break for its next game on Friday, Jan. 23 against the Phoenix RoadRunners at 7:30 p.m. from Stockton Arena.
