Blades Get 5-4 Win Over Chiefs

The Saskatoon Blades picked up their sixth straight victory on Tuesday night with a 5-4 road win over the Spokane Chiefs.

Josh Nicholls (Tsawwassen, BC) had two goals while Randy McNaught (Nanaimo, BC), Travis Toomey (Leduc, AB), and Stefan Elliott (North Vancouver, BC) also scored for the Blades, who completed a five-game sweep of the U.S. Division on this road trip.

Adam Morrison (White Rock, BC) made 32 saves to claim the victory between the pipes for the Blades. At the Spokane end, James Reid stopped 32 shots thrown his way in defeat.

Final score Saskatoon Blades 5, Spokane Chiefs 4.

With the win, the Blades' record goes to 29-7-1-3 for 62 points on the season and gives the team a three-point cushion for first overall in the Western Hockey League. The Chiefs drop to 23-14-3-0 for 49 points and continue to sit 4th in the Western Conference.

The Blades wrap up their six-game road trip on Wednesday night in Cranbrook, BC against the Kootenay Ice. Game time is 8:00 pm (Sask. time). Tune in live on 92.9 The Bull with play-by-play man Les Lazaruk. Fans can also purchase the contest on WHL WebTV.
