Silvertips Defeat Rockets, 6-2

Kelowna, BC - The Everett Silvertips won their fourth straight game Wednesday night defeating the Kelowna Rockets, 6-2. The line of Shane Harper (1G, 2A), Chris Langkow (1G, 1A) and Zack Dailey (1G, 2A) combined for eight points. Byron Froese, Josh Winquist and Kellan Tochkin rounded out the scoring for Everett. Everett now improves to 3-1 this season against the Kelowna Rockets. Froese, who has scored a goal in three straight, now has a four game point streak (3G, 1A). Kent Simpson stopped 23 shots to collect his 11th win of the season. Ryan Murray collected an assist in his first game back from World Juniors.

Everett struck first Wednesday night after Dailey scored his fifth goal of the season. Dailey banked the puck off a Kelowna defenseman and past Adam Brown 5:21 to give the Silvertips a 1-0 lead. Winquist scored his first career WHL goal collecting a rebound off an Alex Theriau shot to beat Brown on the backhand at 14:28. Everett moved the score to 3-0 with Froese's 14thgoal of the year shorthanded at 18:50 off a Tyler Maxwell feed. The Silvertips controlled the lead in shots 9-5 after 20 minutes of play.

Kelowna cut Everett's lead to two after Tyler Halliday backhanded the puck top-shelf, blocker side past Simpson at 8:58. Tochkin scored his 14th of the year on the power play at 12:18. Converting on a rebound past Brown, Tochkin moved the score to 4-1 Silvertips.

Antoine Corbin scored Kelowna's second goal of the night on the power play at 13:39. Simpson made the original save off Corbin's shot, but the save from his blocker went off Rasmus Rissanen's back before finding the back of the net. Harper scored his 25th goal of the season with assists to Dailey and Langkow at 17:37 moving the score to 5-2 Everett. Langkow scored with just 23 seconds left to tally his 12th goal of the year and finish scoring for Everett concluding a 5-2 victory over Kelowna.

This brings the 'Tips record to 23-16-2-1 with 49 points in 42 games played. Everett finishes their four game road trip in Kent this Friday taking on the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:35.
