ESTERO, FL - Mathieu Roy scored the lone goal in the overtime shootout, to help lift the Florida Everblades to 5-4 shootout victory over the Kalamazoo Wings at Germain Arena Saturday evening.

Kalamazoo struck first when Nick Sirota redirected a Eric Kattelus past Everblades goaltender John Muse at the top of the crease to give the Wings a 1-0 lead.

Nearly 90 seconds later, Brayden Irwin tied the game at one scoring on a rebound shot past Wings netminder Maxime Clermont..

Florida grabbed the lead at 13:23 of the period when Trevor Bruess picked up the puck on the left side of the crease and swung it around the sprawling body of Clermont on the right side. The marker was a power play tally.

Kalamazoo tied the game at two, after John Muse was bumped behind the net and knocked down, allowing Mike Matczak to fire a shot from the point toward the wide open net. The shot was tipped in by Darryl Bootland for the goal.

In the second, David Fischer slipped a perfectly placed pass on the left wing side to Scott Pitt who snuck in behind the defense and lifted a wrist shot high into the net giving the Blades a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes played.

Kory Karlander's power play goal tied the game at three on the power play at 6:26 of the period.

Florida's David Rutherford scored nearly 40 seconds later on a power play goal of his own. Rutherford sent a shot from the slot high into the corner of the net for his team leading 22 goal of the season.

One minute later, Sam Ftorek floated a shot from the point which clipped past a screened Muse who never saw the puck. The goal tied the game at four, and forced overtime.

Both teams traded off quality scoring chances in overtime, but neither team could net the winner. In the shootout, Mathieu Roy scored the lone goal, while John Muse shoved away all five Kalamazoo shooters to seal the 5-4 overtime shootout win.

Muse gets the win stopping 34 of 38 shots, while Clermont takes the loss allowing four goals on 35 shots.
