Aces Acquire Goaltender Shane Owen

The Alaska Aces have acquired goaltender Shane Owen from the Florida Everblades in exchange for future considerations, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Saturday. Owen is expected to join the Aces in Stockton in time for Sunday's game against the Thunder. Alaska and Stockton are currently in the midst of a three-game series that continues Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The Aces then come back to Alaska for their final two home games of the season on Mar. 9th and 10th. Tickets are on sale now. Owen, 21, is in his second pro season and joins the Aces from Florida after starting the season with the Utah Grizzlies. The 6'2", 195 lbs. netminder has played in 44 professional games, and compiled a record of 17-15- 7 with a 2.94 GAA and a .907 save percentage. He began the season playing in 17 games for the Grizzlies before a late January trade took him to Florida. He appeared in six games, and posted a 2-2-1 record for the Everblades prior to the Aces acquisition of him. Last season he made his American Hockey League debut with the Hershey Bears, playing on period in relief and making nine saves on ten shots. The Aces will be Owen's fifth pro team, having previously suited up for Florida, Utah, and South Carolina in the ECHL and Hershey of the AHL. Last season as a rookie, Owen went 10-6-3 in South Carolina with a 2.45 GAA and a .912 save percentage.

Prior to turning pro the Markham, Ontario native played four seasons of major junior hockey. He spent two and a half seasons with the Erie Otters in the OHL, before landing with the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL. After his arrival in 2010 he helped lead the Wildcats to the QMJHL Championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup. He went 14-3 in 18 games with a league best .925 save percentage, and a GAA of 2.12 which ranked second in the league. In the QMJHL postseason, he was even better with a 1.42 GAA and a .938 save percentage.

In additional roster moves, the Aces activated Jordan Kremyr off of the 7-day IR, and placed Tyler Reugsegger on the 3-day IR.

The Aces remain on the road for two more games in Stockton on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The Aces then come back to Alaska for their final two home games of the season on Mar. 9th and 10th.
