
Gladiators Edge Stingrays 2-1

Duluth, GA - The South Carolina Stingrays (32-23-4-1) saw their five-game unbeaten streak come to an end in a 2-1 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators (32-17-7-4) Saturday night at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Stingrays finished their regular-season series against the Gladiators with a 9-6-0-0 record.
The Gladiators broke open the scoring at 6:39 of the first period with an unassisted goal from forward Pat Galivan beating Stingrays goaltender Philipp Grubauer (L, 32 saves on 34 shots) with a shot between the legs from the right-wing circle.
Gladiators defenseman Cody Brookwell made it 2-0 at 1:40 of the third period from forwards Tyler Murovich and Bryan Brutlag. The Stingrays cut the lead in half with a tally for forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien at 7:51 slipping a shot between the legs of Gladiators netminder Ryan Zapolski (W, 21 saves on 22 shots) from the top of the crease. Forwards Chris Higgins and Trent Campbell added assists. The Stingrays ended the evening 0-for-7 on the power play while the Gladiators went 0-for-6.
