TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight the Cyclones will have one more home battle before embarking on an eight-game road trip beginning tomorrow in Toledo. Just two night's after grabbing second place back from the Chicago Express, Cincinnati now sets its sights on the Wheeling Nailers. In limited action against Wheeling this season, the Clones have earned points in three out of the four meetings (1-1-0-1). Since 2006, Cincinnati owns a 35-29-0-1 regular season record against their West Virginia foes.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: MATHIEU AUBIN KIDS JERSEY T-SHIRT NIGHT - The first 1,500 fans ages 2-12 will receive a FREE Kids Jersey T-Shirt of Cyclones Captain Mathieu Aubin courtesy of 7UP.
SCOUTING THE NAILERS: With a shootout loss last night in Toledo, Clark Donatelli's club sits two points back of first-place Elmira in the Atlantic Division standings and currently owns the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Rookie Chris Barton has been the leader for the Nailers, offensively. In 53 games, he ranks third among all league-rookies with 51 points (25 goals, 26 assists) and first in goals (25). Goaltender Peter Delmas has split time between the ECHL and AHL this season, but is back now for another stint with the Nailers. This season, he has appeared in 26 games and earned a 15-8-1 record with a 2.53 goals-against average. His GAA is sixth-best among active ECHL goalies. The Nailers are one of the top defensive teams in the league, allowing an average of 2.8 goals per game - the fourth-lowest mark of all 20 teams. Their 157 overall goals allowed is third-fewest in the ECHL.
Broadway Bullies: Cincinnati has been one of the top teams in the league this year when playing at 100 Broadway. Their 21 home wins ranks second-most in the entire ECHL. While using home-ice advantage, the Clones have outscored their opponents by a total of 110-87.
Cardiac Clones: The Clones have found ways to win games despite being behind on the scoreboard. They have 15 come-from-behind wins, which far surpasses their totals in each of the last two seasons. On Thursday night, they met their 2008-09 mark of 15 such victories. Not surprisingly, they have found most of their offense in the third period, striking 63 times in the final frame.
Eastern Conference Playoff Race: The top eight teams at season's end earn a Kelly Cup Playoff bid.
