Blades Back Raiders Up Against Wall After Game 4 Win
April 4, 2024 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
ONE MORE: The Saskatoon Blades hold a 3-1 series lead in Round 1 against the Prince Albert Raiders after a 4-1 victory in Game 4 at the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday.
6-foot-2 forward Misha Volotovskii was a monster for the Blue and Gold, earning first star with a goal and an assist. Volotovskii's first two career playoff points came on top of relentless forechecking in the Raiders end and exceptional defensive play. The Calgary, AB product set a career-high in goals (9), assists (5), and points (14) in 59 regular season games. With confidence growing in the man known as, "Legend 1-7," Volotovskii could be a dark horse calibre player for the Blades in the postseason.
21-year-old Blades forward Easton Armstrong opened the scoring for a second consecutive game, giving him goals in three straight and six points (5G, 1A) in the series. Nashville Predators defenceman Tanner Molendyk potted his first goal of postseason in the second period to make it 3-1 Saskatoon, while newly signed Anaheim Ducks prospect Egor Sidorov scored his fourth of the playoffs with an empty-net goal.
Rookie forward Willy James picked up an assist on Molendyk's tally, earning the Calgary, AB product's first career WHL point.
The Blades have jumped out to a 2-0 lead in all four games this series and have a stranglehold on the Raiders as Game 5 returns to SaskTel Centre on Friday. The Blades have an opportunity to eliminate their Highway 11 rivals from the playoffs on home ice.
NEXT GAME: The Blades set their sights on eliminating the Raiders out of the playoffs Friday for Game 5 at SaskTel Centre.
Puck drop is 7:00pm.
