Meneghin Named Central Division Goaltender of the Year

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Western Hockey League announce Thursday that Lethbridge Hurricanes 2004-born goaltender Harrison Meneghin has been named the 2023-2024 Central Division Goaltender of the Year.
Meneghin, 19, was originally undrafted in the WHL Prospects Draft, but was listed and signed by the Hurricanes in 2021. He attended the Minnesota Wild rookie and training camp in 2023. The South Surrey, BC, product finished the 2023-2024 regular season appearing in 53 games while posting a 27-20-5-0 record with a 2.59 goals against average (GAA), a .919 save percentage (SV%) and three shutouts. He became just 10th goaltender in Hurricanes history to reach the 25-win mark during a season. Meneghin finished the regular season sitting third in games played (53), fourth in minutes played (3,040), sixth in wins (27), sixth in GAA (2.59), second in SV% (.919) and third in shutouts (3).
During his WHL career, Meneghin has appeared in 90 career games collecting a 46-32-7-2 record with a 2.72 GAA and a .913 SV% and four shutouts. The draft eligible goaltender who was ranked 26th among North American goalies on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings, sits ninth all-time in Hurricanes victories, sitting just 13 wins away from second all-time held by Bryan Thomson while 42 wins away from the all-time leader Stuart Skinner (88).
Being named the Central Division Goaltender of the Year, Meneghin is also a finalist for the WHL's Del Wilson Memorial Trophy for the league's Goaltender of the Year. Only one prior Hurricane have won the Del Wilson Award: Jamie McLennan (1990-1991).
The other finalist for the Goaltender of the Year are Brett Mirwald (BC/Vancouver Giants), Jan Spunar (US/Portland Winterhawks) and Jackson Unger (East/Moose Jaw Warriors). The WHL will announce the league award winners from Tuesday, April 30 through Thursday, May 9.
