Blackhawks Recall D Danny Richmond

CHICAGO, Illinois - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Danny Richmond from Norfolk. The recall comes on the heels of two trades made by the Blackhawks earlier in the day.

Richmond, 22, is a 6'0", 194 lb. defenseman from Chicago, Illinois. This will be his third stint with the Blackhawks this season. Richmond has skated in four games with the Blackhawks this season and is scoreless with no penalty minutes in those games.

With the Admirals this season, Richmond has 10 goals and 24 assists with 138 penalty minutes in 52 games. His 34 points rank him third in AHL scoring among defensemen and seventh on the Admirals in scoring. He also appeared in 34 regular season and Calder Cup Playoff games with Norfolk last season, scoring four goals and adding nine assists with 44 penalty minutes.

Richmond was acquired by the Blackhawks along with a 2006 4th round draft pick from the Carolina Hurricanes for Anton Babchuk and a 2007 4th round draft pick on January 20, 2006.

Originally drafted by Carolina in the second round (31st overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Richmond has skated in 23 NHL games in his career with one assist and 25 penalty minutes. In 143 career AHL games, Richmond has 17 goals and 34 assists with 286 penalty minutes.

Earlier today, the Blackhawks acquired forward Jason Williams from the Detroit Red Wings in a three-way deal that saw former Admirals defenseman Lasse Kukkonen and a third round pick in 2007 go to Philadelphia. The Blackhawks acquired forward Kyle Calder from Philadelphia in the Kukkonen deal and then traded Calder to the Detroit Red Wings for center/winger Jason Williams. The Blackhawks today also traded center Bryan Smolinski to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Vancouver's 2 nd round draft pick in either 2007 or 2008.

On Tuesday night, the Admirals visit Manchester to play the Atlantic Division-leading Monarchs at 7:05.
