
Andrei Kostitsyn assigned to Hamilton

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the club has assigned right-winger Andrei Kostitsyn to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. The Bulldogs also announced that they have released goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris from his Professional Tryout Contract. Grumet-Morris will report to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.
Kostitsyn, 22, was recalled by Montreal for the second time this season on February 22nd and appeared in two games, collecting an assist and four shots on goal. In six games with the Canadiens this season, the native of Novopolotsk, Belarus has one point (0-1-1), 12 shots on goal and a minus-1 rating. Kostitsyn has totaled four points (2-2-4) and two penalty minutes in 18-career NHL games.
The 6-foot, 202-pound forward has played 50 games with the Bulldogs this season, posting career highs in goals (21), assists (31), and points (52), with 50 penalty minutes and is tied for third in the AHL with a plus-24 rating. Kostitsyn is currently on an 11-game point streak (Jan. 20th - Feb. 19th) with nine goals, 11 assists and 20 points in that span. He has recorded 15 multiple-point games so far this season, including one five-point game (2-3-5) on December 15th, 2006, at Rochester.
Grumet-Morris, 24, has played in 13 AHL games this season with the Hamilton Bulldogs and Portland Pirates. In two games with Hamilton, the native of Evanston, Illinois posted a 1-0-1 record with a goals against average of 0.96, a save percentage of .968 and a shutout. In his 11 games with Portland, Grumet-Morris recorded a record of 1-6-3, a 3.03 goals against average, a save percentage of .903 and a shutout.
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound netminder has also played 16 games in the ECHL this season with the Cincinnati Cyclones, registering an 8-6-0 record, with a 2.72 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.
In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, February 28th at the Omaha Civic Auditorium when they battle the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights at 8:00 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, 820 CHAM "The Legend," beginning with the Park's Furniture Pre-Game Show at 7:40 p.m. Fans can also listen or watch at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com by clicking on the 'B2 Networks' or '820 CHAM' icon on the 'Dogs website.
