BKLYN Bats Explode in 14-0 Win over Renegades

BROOKLYN, NY - Brett Baty had four of Brooklyn's 14 hits, leading the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, to a 14-0 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades Wednesday night at Maimonides Park.

BIG MOMENTS

Brett Baty collected RBIs on three of his four base knocks. The No. 4 Mets prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, ripped an RBI single in Brooklyn's three-run fourth inning. He added a run-scoring double in the Cyclones five-run sixth inning. His "Little League" grand slam in the seventh finished off the Renegades. Baty cleared the bases on a two-run single, scoring on two Renegades errors on the same play.

Joe Genord finished 3-5, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Genord hit an RBI triple, the first three-base hit of his professional career to give the Cyclones a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. He doubled and scored on Anthony Walter's RBI double in the seventh to push the Brooklyn lead to 9-0.

Brooklyn starter Oscar Rojas, relievers Allan Winans, Brain Metoyer, and Bryce Montes de Oca kept Hudson Valley scoreless over nine innings. The arms struck out seven batters, allowing just five hits.

NEWS AND NOTES

Ronny Mauricio extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a double in the fourth and Brett Baty reached twice to push his on-base streak to 11 to begin the season.

Anthony Walters, the Mets third round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, collected his first professional hit with a run-scoring single in the fourth inning.

The Cyclones snapped a five-game losing streak.
