Buffalo Bisons News Release

Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons host the IronPigs in a doubleheader to wrap up a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (Game 1: 5:30pm). Lehigh Valley won the first two games of the set before yesterday's rain out. Tomorrow, the Herd leaves for an eight-game trip to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Pawtucket.

vs. IronPigs

The Bisons are 4-2 against the IronPigs this season. The road team has won each of the first six games as Buffalo swept a four-game set at Coca-Cola Park in Pennsylvania, April 19-22. Heading into this season, the home team had won 44 of the 79 games (.557) in this match-up since 2008.

Tonight's Starters

LHP RICKY ROMERO will make just his second start at Coca-Cola Field. The southpaw worked a season-best six innings in a no-decision in Norfolk on Saturday. In that outing, Romero walked none and struck out three. RHP JUSTIN GERMANO struck out a Bisons season-high eight batters while allowing just two runs in six innings of a victory on Sunday over the Tides.

Roster Moves

The Blue Jays have recalled C JOSH THOLE and selected the contract of INF ANDY LaROCHE from the Bisons. The Herd was 24-12 in the 36 games that Thole started behind the plate. LaRoche had the third most games played (49) on the team. Each hitter had seven home runs with LaRoche driving in 32 and Thole collecting 31 RBI on the year.

Mauro hits them Far-o

INF MAURO GOMEZ has eight home runs in his last 10 games. The eight blasts are two more than any player in minor league baseball since May 26. The surge has vaulted Gomez into a tie for the most homers in the IL with 15 on the season. That gives Gomez 63 home runs in the International League over the last two and a half seasons (282 games) in the circuit.

Gose returns

The Blue Jays optioned OF ANTHONY GOSE to the Bisons on Thursday. Gose played in 13 games with Toronto and hit .304 (7-23) with two doubles and four runs scored. In 40 games for the Herd, Gose hit .225 (35-154) and was leading the International League with 36 runs scored at the time of his May 20 promotion.

All-Star Update

Two Bisons players lead their positions in fan voting for the 2013 Triple-A All-Star Game. 2B JIM NEGRYCH and DH LUIS JIMENEZ top all IL players at their spots. 3B ANDY LaROCHE and RHP NEIL WAGNER lead their positions in votes, but are currently with the Blue Jays. Fan voting will determine the starting line up for both All-Star teams.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (25-34) were off on Friday. Toronto opens up a three-game series with the Rangers tonight at Rogers Centre. RHP EMIL ROGERS will start for the Blue Jays tonight.
