August 2, 2022 - International League (IL)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
MOOSIC, PA - Embarking on a two-week, 12-game road trip, the Buffalo Bisons kicked off their excursion by defeating the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 4-0 in the opener of this six-game series on Tuesday night from PNC Park.
Shaun Anderson made the start for the Herd and threw 2.1 no-hit innings, though he did walk three and hit a batter, before being lifted for Nick Allgeyer. The southpaw held the RailRiders hitless over his 2.2 frames while walking two and striking out two.
The offence, meanwhile, opened the scoring on an RBI double by Cullen Large in the second, before Chavez Young singled and scored on an RBI knock by Spencer Horwitz in the third.
Mitch Spence started for the RailRiders while making his Triple-A debut, going 4.2 innings allowing two runs off six hits while striking out four. The Herd threatened in the fourth by loading the bases with one out, but Spence escaped the jam by inducing a 4-6-3 double play.
Scranton responded by loading the bases with one away in the sixth after Tayler Saucedo gave up a pair of hits and a walk, but Brandon Eisert entered the game and stranded all three runners to preserve the lead.
The Herd then tacked on two late insurance runs when Gabriel Moreno singled, stole second, and scored on a two-out RBI single by Nathan Lukes in the eighth, before Logan Warmoth tripled and scored on Tanner Morris' RBI single in the ninth.
Kyle Johnston allowed three hits over two scoreless innings, while Vinny Nittoli finished things off in the ninth against his former team.
The Bisons and RailRiders will continue their series tomorrow night, with first pitch coming at 6:35 p.m. EST.
