Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings dropped their 12th straight contest in game one of a six-game series against the Columbus Clippers Tuesday night. Rochester failed to score a run, losing 2-0 while seeing their record fall to 47-53 on the year.

RHP Cade Cavalli got the start for the Wings, giving up five hits and two runs in four innings of work. The righty hadn't allowed an earned run in three consecutive starts.

Cavalli hit batter Alex Call with the bases loaded in the first inning, sending him to first and allowing Tyler Freeman to score. The Clippers took a 2-0 lead when Trenton Brooks logged a sac-fly, plating Gabriel Arias while capping off a two-run first inning.

Neither team scored a run for the rest of the game, as Rochester registered just four hits with no multi-hit performers. C Riley Adams hit a double in the top of the fourth, and CF David Dahl logged one in the top of the ninth, but the Wings were unable to get the offense going otherwise.

LHP Francisco Perez, RHP Will Harris, and LHP Matt Cronin all saw the mound, holding Columbus hitless and scoreless through five innings.

After finishing the month of July with just seven wins, the Wings started August off the wrong way, extending their losing streak to a minor league-leading 12 games.

Rochester will send RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon to the mound on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. with a chance for the Wings to turn things around against Columbia.
