Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the first game of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a pair of losses to Pawtucket to begin its final homestand of the season. The Bisons have identical 33-34 records at Coca-Cola Field and on the road this season.

vs. the RailRiders

The Bisons are 7-5 against the RailRiders this season. The teams will meet five more times this year, including a two-game series at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, September 3-4. The teams have not squared off since July 10-13 when the Herd took two of three games.

Jeff Francis

LHP JEFF FRANCIS makes his 14th start and 19th appearance for the Bisons today. The southpaw is looking to snap a personal three-game losing streak. He allowed six runs (four earned) in four innings in Lehigh Valley last Monday. Francis is 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in seven total appearances at Coca-Cola Field this season (34.0 IP, 23 SO).

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE brings an eight-game hit streak into tonight's action. Since August 14, he has averaged .394 (13-33) with three doubles and five RBI. Hague leads the IL in average (.347), hits (168), RBI (86), on-base pct. (.425) and slugging pct. (479). His .347 batting average is 33 points better than any other player in the league.

Dalton Pompey

OF DALTON POMPEY has three multi-hit performances in his last four games and 10 in the month of August. Since the All-Star break, Pompey has averaged .347 (52-150) -the second best mark in the IL. His .436 on-base pct. over that span leads all IL hitters.

Roster Moves

INF RYAN SCHIMPF has rejoined the team from New Hampshire (AA). Schimpf leads the Eastern League with 20 home runs despite playing just 76 games with the Fisher Cats. Early today, the Blue Jays designated INF TY KELLY for assignment.

Bisons Bits

RHP SCOTT COPELAND is up to 2nd in the IL in ERA (2.46) and tied for 2nd in wins (11)...The Bisons are 44-36 in games against IL North teams...Buffalo is a league-best 49-13 when score first in games.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (73-56) blew out the Tigers today, 15-1, at Rogers Centre. Edwin Encarnacion had three home runs (including a grand slam) and nine RBI for Toronto. Josh Donaldson also had three hits and two RBI and has now driven in 104 runs this year. Toronto hosts Detroit again tomorrow at 1:07 p.m.
