Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (60-75) managed just three hits in a 2-1 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs (61-74) on Saturday night at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse.

A two-run seventh gave the hosts a 2-1 lead and proved to be the difference in the game for the Chiefs. Pigs starter David Buchanan issued a bases-loaded walk to Dan Butler and Kevin Keyes knocked home the go-ahead run with a sac fly.

Buchanan (4-2) gave up the two runs on four hits while walking a pair and fanning three in seven innings of work.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth as Buchanan and Chiefs starter Richard Bleier traded zeroes.

In the afore-mentioned top of the fifth, Tyler Henson (1-3, SB, R) led off with a single, stole second, moved to third on a sac fly and scored on Kelly Dugan's RBI groundout to give the Pigs a 1-0 lead.

Bleier (6-2) allowed one run on three hits to go along with one strikeout in 7.0 IP. RHP Rafael Martin (1.0 IP, K) got the final three outs to pick up his 12th save of the year.

Chase d'Arnaud was 0-4 for Lehigh Valley and saw his hitting streak come to an end at 10 games.

RHP Dalier Hinojosa (1.0 IP, 2 H, K) had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Dave Brundage's squad.

The series continues on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. as RHP Sean O'Sullivan (3-2, 3.86) gets the ball for the IronPigs against Syracuse RHP A.J. Cole (5-5, 3.18).
