TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). Tonight's contest is the first of six games this season the Yankees will serve as the home team in Buffalo, NY. The Bisons were off yesterday and are 4-4 so far on their historic 16-game stretch at Coca-Cola Field.
NO QUITE HOME: Tonight's game is the first of six contests this year where the Bisons will serve as the road team at Coca-Cola Field against the Yankees. Along with this four-game series, the Herd will be the "road" team August 20-21 in Buffalo. The Bisons will bat first in each of these games. The Yankees are playing their entire 2012 season away from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as construction of a new ballpark takes place where PNC Field once stood.
ROAD SWEET HOME: There was quite a celebration the last time the Bisons were the road team at Coca-Cola Field. The Bisons defeated the Richmond Braves 6-1 in the deciding Game 4 of the Governors' Cup Finals on September 17, 2004. Buffalo was the road team in both Games 3 and 4 as inclement weather in the Southeast caused by Hurricane Ivan forced the entire series to be played at Coca-Cola Field. It was the Bisons sixth Governors' Cup Title.
vs. YANKEES: The Bisons are 1-2 against the Yankees this season. After the Bisons won their 2012 Home Opener 12-3 over the Yanks on April 11, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre won the next two games to take the series. Buffalo is just 3-8 in their last 11 games against their IL North rival.
HARVEY: RHP MATT HARVEY makes his team-high 10th start today. The righty has won four straight decisions included a six-inning, 11-strikeout effort last Friday in a 5-3 win over Gwinnett. In his last six starts, Harvey is 4-0 with a 3.09ERA and 40 strikeouts in 35.0 innings of work. He is tied for 6th in the International League with 49 strikeouts this season.
BISONS BITS: RHP ELVIN RAMIREZ has allowed just three hits in seven scoreless appearances to begin his Triple-A career (9.0IP, 10K)...INF MATT TUIASOSOPO has averaged .393 (11-28) in his last seven games...OF COREY WIMBERLY has seven multi-hit games in his first nine contests with the Herd.
METS UPDATE : The Mets' (23-20) defeated the Pirates by a 3-1 score on Wednesday afternoon. Former Bisons LHP JON NIESE allowed one run on five hits in 7.2 innings of work to improve to 3-2 on the year. INF DAVID WRIGHT doubled and drove in a run. The Mets host the Padres tonight (7:10 p.m.) at Citi Field.
