Charlotte Knights News Release

(Fort Mill, SC) -- The Charlotte Knights and Lehigh Valley IronPigs officially kicked-off their four-game series Thursday night after the completion of their suspended game from May 4th. The Knights took the nightcap 3-2 at Knights Stadium as Dylan Axelrod pitched Charlotte's second complete game in a week. Axelrod (4-1, 1.20) went all seven innings and gave up two runs on two solo homers, four hits and struck out five. Charlotte scored all three of their runs in the third inning.

The IronPigs got on the board first in the third inning on a Derrick Mitchell leadoff home run.

Charlotte (25-23) answered right back in the home half of the inning. Tyler Kuhn and Ray Olmedo scored when Greg Golson's sacrifice bunt was thrown down the right field line by third baseman Tim Kennelly. Golson later scored when Dan Johnson doubled off the right field wall to give the Knights a 3-1 advantage.

Lehigh Valley's second homer of the game was hit by Erik Kratz in the fourth inning. That home run cut the Charlotte lead to 3-2.

Jordan Danks reached base in each of his at-bats with two walks and a single for the Knights.

Charlotte dropped the suspended game 5-4 earlier in the day.
