Ohlendorf Leads PawSox Past Hens

Right hander Ross Ohlendorf pitched extermely well on Thursday night, as the PawSox took the first game of an 8 game homestand, knocking off Toledo, 4-1. Ohlendorf (4-3) earned the win, pitching 6 shutout innings, scattering three hits, walking just one and striking out 6. Adam Wilk (2-4) who had defeated the PawSox on May 1 in Ohio, took the loss, despite giving up just 2 runs in 6 innings.

Nate Spears smashed a solo home run to right field in the second inning to put the PawSox on the board, 1-0. Mauro Gomez singled in the fourth to make it 2-0. Gomez had 2 hits. In the top iof the seventh, the Hens scored their only run on a hit by Audy Ciriaco. In the bottom of the inning, big brother, Pedro Ciriaco answered with a run-scoring base hit. Alex Hassan capped the scoring with an RBI hit in the eighth.

The PawSox are the first I.L. team to reach the 30 win plateau in 2012. At 30-18, Pawtucket remains alone in first place. The series continues on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Jacob Turner (0-0) faces Justin Germano (4-3).
