Buffalo Handles SWB Yankees in Series Opener 6-2

Buffalo, NY - The ninth spot of the lineup isn't known for run production. Buffalo shortstop Omar Quintanilla strayed from the norm as he went 3-4 with three RBI leading the Bisons to a 6-2 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the opening game of a four game Yankee "home" series in Buffalo, NY.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter Adam Warren threw four shutout innings, but the fifth and sixth gave him some problems. Quintanilla started the scoring for the Bisons with a two-RBI double to left field making it a 2-0 ballgame.

The Bisons extended their lead to 4-0 in the top half of the sixth. The first run of the inning came off an RBI single off the bat of Jordany Valdespin. Lucas May capped off the inning with an RBI double to left field.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre cut the Buffalo lead in half in the bottom half of the sixth. Steve Pearce roped a two-RBI double to right field scoring Kevin Russo and Matt Antonelli.

Buffalo again made it a four run game as they added one run in the seventh and eighth innings. Valentino Pascucci provided the run in the seventh with a RBI single to centerfield. Quintanilla then provided his third and final RBI of the night with a line drive single to center.

Adam Warren suffered the loss for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The right-hander is now 2-3 on the season with an ERA of 5.14. He allowed four runs on eight hits, while striking out three and walking one.

Matt Harvey earned the win for Buffalo improving to 5-1 on the season. He allowed just two runs on four hits, while striking out two and walking one. Elvin Ramirez and Jack Egbert combined for 3.2 innings of shutout ball.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre fell to 24-20, while Buffalo improved to 26-20. The Yankees and Bisons take the field Friday for game two of a four game series at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY. Right-hander Dellin Betances (2-4, 5.24) takes the hill for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while Jeurys Familia (4-1, 4.35) gets the nod for Buffalo. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
