The Thruway Cup

The Herd moved to 7-3 on the year against the Red Wings with last night's victory. The three-team race for the Thruway Cup is tight, with Buffalo (12-10) and Syracuse (11-9) tied for 1st place, three games ahead of Rochester (7-11).

Esmil Rogers

RHP ESMIL ROGERS will make his sixth start for the Herd this evening as he's now falling into a solid role in the rotation. In 35 innings of work this season, Rogers is 2-1 with a 2.83 ERA. The righty is coming off his best start of the year, working through six innings of one-run baseball on July 3rd against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Bisons Bullpen

Over the last three games, the bullpen has been nothing short of stellar. In the series with the Red Wings, Herd relievers have retired 35 of 37 batters. In 11.2 total innings, the pen has allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out 15 batters.

Roster Moves

OF BRAD GLENN has rejoined the Bisons after clearing waivers from Toronto. The outfielder played six games in his big league debut (1-15). He has averaged .377 (43-114) with four homers and 22 RBI in 31 games for the Bisons this season. The Herd also announced that RHP P.J. WALTERS has been placed on the temporarily inactive list.

Derby Bound

INF DAN JOHNSON will compete in the 2014 Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby in Durham on Monday. Johnson leads the IL with 17 home runs this season. This will be Johnson's third Triple-A derby, as he won the event in 2010 in Lehigh Valley and finished 2nd in the Home Run Derby to Bisons DH Valentino Pascucci in Buffalo in 2012.

Bisons Bits

INF RYAN GOINS was 2-for-4 at the plate last night, marking his 10th multi-hit performance in his last 20 games...RHP BOBBY KORECKY converted his 12th save last night and lowered his ERA to 0.57.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (47-44) fell to the Angels last night 5-2 in the opener of a three-game series. Former Bison INF Juan Francisco belted his 14th homer of the season. The Jays send Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey to the hill tonight for game two at 10:05 p.m. at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
