Bisons Late Rally Not Enough against IronPigs in 5-3 Loss

Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Bisons had a late rally that ultimately wasn't enough to overcome a five-run hole against the IronPigs in a 5-3 loss Saturday night from Coca-Cola Park.

Lehigh Valley established a 5-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning on a solo home run from Ryan Goins and a pair of two-run shots--one from Mitch Walding and one from Nick Rickles.

After being shutout through the first six innings, the Bisons got the bats brewing in the seventh which was the only frame the Herd manufactured runs.

Michael De La Cruz led off the inning by drawing a walk and singles from Gift Ngoepe and Roemon Fields loaded the bases with nobody out.

Jonathan Davis capitalized on the opportunity and kept the hit parade going with a base hit to plate the first Bison run of the game. A wild pitch allowed Ngoepe to trot home and a sacrifice fly from Darnell Sweeney helped cut the deficit to two runs.

The Bisons brought the tying run to the plate twice in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Davis had a fantastic game at the plate going 3-5 with three singles. Despite the loss, the Bisons' defense turned three doubleplays and did not commit an error.

Buffalo closes out the series with the IronPigs Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
