Today's Games
This afternoon, the Bisons finish a three-game weekend series with the Syracuse Mets. Buffalo is going for the sweep of their IL North foes, while looking to close out June on a winning note in the process. Following this series, the Herd will host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for three games to open up July.
Yesterday's Game: BUF 9, SYR 3
Buffalo blasted their way to victory over the Mets with six extra-base hits, including two home runs from INF Andy Burns and one more from C Reese McGuire. The Bisons scoring started in the second inning when McGuire and Burns hit back-to-back home runs. The two batters combined for five total RBIs on the game. Gregor Blanco and Rene Rivera each had solo home runs for Syracuse but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong outing from LHP Thomas Pannone.
Syracuse (4-5)
Buffalo and Syracuse are meeting for the third time of 2019 after having played a series at each of their respective fields. The Bisons will travel to Syracuse for a four-game series next week for their final visit to NBT Bank Stadium.
Today's Starter
RHP Conor Fisk will start the game on the mound for the Bisons this afternoon. He will look to earn his first win in a start as he carries and 0-2 record with a 4.29 ERA in such appearances. In his last outting he came out of the bullpen for 1.0 IP and gave up no hits or runs against Scranton/WB.
Andy Burns
INF Andy Burns sent two solo home runs over the wall to bring his season total up to eight in yesterday's win. He became the fifth different Bison this season to have a two-homer game.
Thomas Pannone
LHP Thomas Pannone secured the quality start in his second win of the season as he dropped his ERA down to 2.04. He tossed 6.0 IP, allowed one run off of three hits, and struck out a season high nine batter to just two walks. In games Pannone has started he has now struck out 22 batters while walking only four.
Bisons Bits
With this recent hot streak the Bisons have been rolling through, the team now sits at 20-9 in the month of June.
The last time Buffalo won 20 or more games in a month was May, 2005 when the team went 23-7. This is also
the 11th time the team has won 20+ games in a month since 1985.
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (31-52) beat the Kansas City Royals yesterday afternoon 7-5. The Blue Jays' offense was led by the young bats of Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio who each had a home run, Biggio's was a grand slam. the game was won by a Danny Jansen walk-off home run in the ninth. This afternoon, the teams square off again in the third game of their series at 1:07 p.m.
