
Stripers Sweep Indianapolis with 5-3 Win

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Gwinnett Stripers (46-35) completed a three-game sweep of the Indianapolis Indians (41-39) with a 5-3 win on Sunday afternoon at Coolray Field. The Stripers won the season series 8-1 over Indianapolis and went 6-0 against the Indians at home.
Scoring Recap: The Stripers took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI double by Luis Marte and an RBI single by Jack Lopez. Eric Wood pulled Indianapolis within one run in the fourth with an RBI double to make it 2-1. The Indians tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth as Jake Elmore scored on an error. Sean Kazmar Jr. gave Gwinnett a 3-2 lead in the sixth with an RBI double. The Stripers' lead was extended to 5-2 in the seventh on a pinch-hit RBI single by Adam Duvall and run-scoring double play that brought in Marte. The Indians cut it to 5-3 in the eighth on an RBI single from Darnell Sweeney.
Stripers Stats: Kolby Allard saw his four-game quality start streak end as he pitched 5.0 innings with two runs (one earned) on six hits and six strikeouts in a no-decision. Shane Carle (W, 4-2) pitched 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Jason Creasy (S, 1) recorded the final out of the game. Marte went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI.
Indians Stats: Eduardo Vera (L, 4-6) tossed 5.2 innings and surrendered three runs on five hits. Trayvon Robinson went 3-for-5, and Elmore went 2-for-5 with two runs.
Quote: "Just looking for a good pitch to hit," Kazmar Jr. said of his go-ahead double. "He was working me away and I was just trying to be patient and fortunately got a good pitch to hit."
Postgame Notes: Rafael Ortega has hit safely in 32 of his last 36 games since May 18. Ryan LaMarre extended his hitting streak to seven games, while Marte extended his hitting streak to six games. Duvall tallied his International League-leading 65th RBI of the year.
