Buffalo Bisons News Release

MOOSIC, PA - The Buffalo Bisons dropped their third straight game to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday night from PNC Field, this time by a score of 8-1.

Derek Holland opened things up for the Herd and gave up one run over two innings before giving way to Trevor Richards, who made his first rehab appearance as he works his way back from a neck strain. It was a tough inning of work for Richards, however, as he gave up three runs off a pair of home runs which put Scranton up 4-1.

Following Richards to begin the fifth was, for the first time since April 22, lefthander Anthony Kay, who has been on the injured list since April 27. Like Richards before him it was a struggle for Kay, who walked three and gave up two runs over 1.2 innings.

Nick Allgeyer was the only Bison pitcher to have a scoreless outing, throwing two shutout innings before Kyle Johnston gave up two runs in the eighth to extend the RailRiders' lead to seven.

The lone run scored by the Bisons came off an RBI single by Chavez Young off Clarke Schmidt in the second. Schmidt went 2.2 innings and allowed just the one run, before Vinny Nittoli took over and retired all seven batters he faced.

Nittoli was right in the middle of a stretch that saw Scranton retire 14 Buffalo batters in a row beginning in the second and ending in the sixth, which tied a season-high for most consecutive Bisons retired with Rochester's Cade Cavalli.

The Bisons will look to pick up their first win of the series tomorrow night with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. EST.
