Worcester Red Sox News Release
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Worcester Red Sox (40-35) tied a season-high with four home runs as they took game three of their six-game series with the Rochester Red Wings (40-35) by an 8-6 final on Thursday afternoon at Frontier Field.
In his Triple-A debut, left-hander Chris Murphy worked into the seventh inning and got the win. The 24-year-old allowed three earned runs on five hits, walking two and striking out four. Murphy did not allow a run and faced one over the minimum of his first six innings.
All eight of Worcester's runs came on home runs. In his first start since April 22, Deivy Grullon blasted a three-run homer in the second inning to open the scoring. An inning later, Pedro Castellanos crushed his second Triple-A home in five games, a two-run shot over the left-field fence. Devlin Granberg belted his first Triple-A homer in the fourth inning to make it 7-0.
In the seventh inning, Rochester scored six runs. The first six batters reached in the frame and all of them scored.
Johan Mieses mashed his seventh long ball of the year in the eighth inning to make it an 8-6 game.
The WooSox have now hit 100 home runs through 75 games.
Kaleb Ort picked up his 13th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning. Ort has not given up a run over his last eight appearances.
Worcester has now won eight of its last nine games, as they have reached the halfway point of the season.
The WooSox continue their six-game series with the Red Wings tomorrow night at Frontier Field. Brayan Bello is the scheduled starter for Worcester. Radio coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and throughout the WooSox Radio Network.
