WINGS RALLY FALLS SHORT: The Red Wings fall 6-5 to Worcester after a 9th-inning rally comes up short...Shortstop Jeter Downs hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th to give Worcester a 6-4 lead...the Wings would rally again in the bottom of the 10th, but come up short...RHP Cade Cavalli went three innings, allowing three runs on three hits in his first start since June 16...the Wings are now 5-2 in extra-inning games and 15-8 in one-run games.
LIPKA IS LIVE: After scoring twice in tonight's game, outfielder Matt Lipka has scored eight times in his last four games...his four-game scoring streak is his longest of the season...during Lipka's stretch, he has reached base safely 10 times in 19 plate appearances, recording six hits and four walks.
SIT IN THE TRUCK: The Wings had 17 strikeouts in tonight's game...over their last 10 games the Red Wings lead Triple-A in the strikeout category with 118...tonight RHP Cade Cavalli (5), LHP Alberto Baldonado (4), LHP Curtis Taylor (2), RHP Patrick Murphy (3) and RHP Jordan Weems (2) all had multiple strikeouts...Baldonado's four strikeouts mark his season-high in the category, as the Wings reliever had not had four strikeouts in an outing since August 17, 2021.
DONO-CAN: Tonight, designated hitter Donovan Casey went 2-for-3 with a game-tying double in the bottom of the 9th inning...Casey now has a three-game hit streak since returning to the lineup...the 26-year-old is 5-for-10 with a double, RBI, and BB over that span.
RED SOX NOTES
JETER DOWNS THE WINGS: In the top of the 10th inning, Jeter Downs hit a two-run homer to left field...the home run was his 12th of the year...he is one of three Woo Sox with double-digit home runs this season...the shortstop went 1-for-3 with the blast and three runs scored in the win.
