Montgomery Biscuits News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Biscuits lost their sixth-straight game on Tuesday night, falling to the Jacksonville Suns 6-4 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
The six-game losing streak is the team's longest of the season, as the Biscuits let a couple of leads slip through their fingers on the way to the defeat. Left-hander Chris Kirsch (3-1) got the start for Montgomery, and pitched well tossing five innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out a season-high seven.
The Biscuits got off to a hot start as well, thanks to an RBI-single by Jake Bauers in the first and a solo home run by Mike Marjama, the catcher's second of the season, to hand the 2-0 edge to Montgomery. Jacksonville would battle back with an RBI-single in the fourth by Chris Curley and a solo shot by Austin Dean in the fifth, followed by an RBI-single by Brian Anderson in the same inning.
But Jake Bauers would respond in the top of the sixth with a two-run missile over the right-center field wall to reclaim the lead for the Biscuits at 4-3. It was Bauers' sixth home run of the season, and second and third RBIs of the night.
The Suns would answer back in the bottom half of the sixth though, with a two-out triple by Yefri Perez and a two-run blast by Dean, his second of the game, in the subsequent at-bat to make it 5-4. The Suns would then tack on their final run in the seventh on an RBI-double by Curley.
The Biscuits threatened in the ninth with singles from Bauers and Wong, but could not bring home either as Tyler Kinley recorded his fourth save of the season.
The Biscuits are now two games under .500 and will try to snap their six-game losing skid in a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 5:05 PM, with Chih-Wei Hu (2-2) and Hunter Wood (0-0) toeing the rubber for the Butter and Blue.
