'Birds Crunch Captains, 10-3

Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

The Captains jumped out in front with a solo homerun from SAL Batter of the Week RF Brian Barton in the second inning. Delmarva answered with three runs in the 3rd highlighted by a two RBI double of the bat of 3B Eric Grimm. Lake County came back to tie in the 5th on a two run error by Grimm. The Shorebirds answered right back with two and took a 5-3 lead after five. Delmarva scored 4 runs in the 6th and one more in the 8th to seal the 10-3 win. Russ Petrick picked up his fourth win of the season going an inning and a third of shutout ball. 2B Gary Cates had three hits for the second straight night with a pair of doubles and scored three runs.

Side note (2B) Gary Cates has had multi hit games in all three he has appeared in with the Shorebirds this season. June 11-(2 Hits), June 12,13-(3 hits).
