Dayton Dragons News Release
Bowling Green, Ky. - The Bowling Green Hot Rods sent 10 batters to the plate in a four-run fourth inning as they defeated the Dayton Dragons 8-1 on Sunday night. The Hot Rods have won two of the first three games in the series that will conclude Monday afternoon in Bowling Green.
Bowling Green led 1-0 before scoring four in the fourth. The Dragons cut into the deficit in the sixth when Michael Beltre singled to center field to bring in Jose Garcia from third and make it 5-1. But the Dragons did not have another base runner after Beltre's hit and Bowling Green added three runs in the eighth, keyed by a two-run inside-the-park home run by Vidal Brujan.
Dragons starting pitcher Packy Naughton (3-4) was charged with the loss. He worked three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
The Dragons collected six hits. Beltre was 2 for 4 with the only run batted in for the Dragons. John Sansone's double was the only extra base hit. Stuart Fairchild had one hit to extend his hitting streak to 10 straight games.
In the Standings: The Dragons are 25-23, in fourth place, six games behind first place Lansing and five and one-half games behind Bowling Green, the wildcard leader, in the Midwest League East Division.
