Beast to Host First Sell-Out Game in Franchise History

February 20, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ON - For the first time since 2009 the Powerade Centre will be sold out for a hockey game as the Brampton Beast announced today that the final ticket for School Day on Monday, February 23rd at 11am versus the Quad City Mallards has been sold. The theme of the event is "Healthy Mind, Healthy Body" and the Beast will welcome season ticket holders, business partners, and school children from throughout the Region of Peel to the Powerade Centre for the event.

"We are extremely excited to host our first ever sell out game and are looking forward to seeing the seats at the Powerade Centre full for hockey," said Brampton Beast President and General Manager Cary Kaplan. "We are very grateful to all of the sponsors, the ECHL and the Quad City Mallards for making accommodations to be able to execute this event and we can't wait to feel the energy in the building and share the experience with our dedicated fans and fresh new faces."

The Brampton Beast's first ever School Day Game features a unique start time of 11am, allowing Peel District schools to work the game into their school-day schedule. While many sports teams often give away free tickets during School Day promotions, the Beast asked local businesses and individuals to make the event possible by purchasing tickets and donating them to the local school children. The response from the local business community and Beast business partners was tremendous and resulted in the sell-out.

The event sponsors include Tallman Truck, IMS CANADA, Air Sprint, Sigma Component Design LTD., Cosmos Sports, Welch's Fruit Snacks, Grand Touring, Brampton Foot, KIMCO Steel, Churchill Meadows Dental Clinic, Kotak Law, Tom Stewart of EZ Nets, Ragazzi Construction, Brampton Golf Club, Oscar's Roadhouse, Gray's Plumbing, Keiko Martial Arts, Booster Juice, Ken Patterson and Cool Catz.

The Beast have been heavily involved with community initiatives since their inception in 2013, and brought home the Central Hockey League's Community Relations Franchise of the Year award in the 2013-14 season in their first year of existence. The Beast are pleased to continue that trend into 2015 by inviting over 20 Peel District schools from across the region to come and cheer them on.

The last time the Powerade Centre was sold out for a hockey game was in 2009 for a Brampton Battalion playoff game.

"It is an exciting moment not only for the franchise, but also for the City of Brampton and the Region of Peel," commented Kaplan. "Thanks to our great partners thousands of local school children will get to experience the fun and excitement of a pro-hockey game, and our season ticket holders and partners will get to be part of the first sold out game in Brampton in a long time. We've seen great strides this season with a strong attendance increase and growing corporate partnerships, and this events will be a nice highlight."

To continue a Beast tradition, a local public school choir from Folkstone Public School will be singing the national anthems in front of their peers before the start of the match. The in-game entertainment and activities will also follow the theme of "Healthy Mind, Healthy Body", with the Beast players advocating the importance of physical and mental health to the youth.

The Beast kick off the first game of their Wild Weekend against the Mallards tomorrow night at 7:30 pm for a Mandarin Lunar Celebration at the Powerade Centre, with Chinese-themed music and activities all night long in addition to prizes and giveaways from the Mandarin Restaurant in Brampton. The fun continues on Sunday as the first 1000 fans in attendance will receive a free Cal Wild relica jersey, with Wild's name on the back and 'C' on the front on Jersey Giveaway Day. Tickets can be purchased online at bramptonbeast.com or by calling 905-564-1684.
