February 20, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
ELMIRA, NY - In the second of four head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel were defeated in a shootout by the Elmira Jackals on Friday at First Arena in Elmira, New York by a final score of 2-1. With the shootout loss, Indy improved to 19-23-4-4 overall this season and with 46 points, pulled into a tie for fifth place in the ECHL's North Division standings.
A Kevin Hart goal at 5:38 of the first period proved the opening frame's lone tally as Matt Tassone and Ryan Rashind provided Hart his second marker of the season at even strength and delivered the Jackals a 1-0 lead through 20 minutes of play. After a scoreless second period, Pete Massar rifled home his seventh goal of the season at 17:16 of the third on feeds from Nick Jones and Nicklas Lindberg to force overtime.
After the extra session slid by scoreless, the Fuel were denied on three shootout chances while Elmira converted on three opportunities to claim victory by a 2-1 final score. Shane Owen was masterful in defeat for the Fuel, making 36 saves in the shootout loss while Travis Fullerton claimed victory in net for the Jackals, by virtue of a 22 performance.
Next up for the Fuel, it's a Saturday rematch with the Jackals with the opening faceoff set for 7:05 at First Arena.
