Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club, winners of three straight home games this past weekend, will finish the 2009-10 regular season with five games out of seven away from the friendly confines of Giant Center. The BEARS begin a stretch of four games in five nights this Wednesday night with a road game against the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at OnCenter, before traveling to Rochester to face the Americans Friday night at Blue Cross Arena.

The final two home games of the 2009-10 regular season will be this Saturday and Sunday at Giant Center, with the Syracuse Crunch coming to town Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Norfolk will provide the opposition Sunday evening at a special start time of 6:00 p.m. HERSHEY'S final three games of 2009-10 will be on the road in Syracuse and Norfolk, with a pair of games to conclude the regular season April 9-10,

Tickets for both home games this weekend are on sale now at the Giant Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.

One win from the summit: The BEARS on Sunday picked up win number 56 on the season, leaving the Chocolate and White just one win short of tying the 1992-93 Binghamton Rangers for the most wins in a single season in AHL history. HERSHEY is also just one home win away from establishing a new franchise record for most home wins in a single year. The BEARS twice previously have won 32 home games, most recently in 1987-88. The Chocolate and White picked up home win number 32 Sunday against Binghamton.

Another landmark for Giroux: Left wing Alexandre Giroux recorded his 300th career AHL goal Sunday with a second period strike against Binghamton goaltender Mike Brodeur. Giroux has scored 102 regular season goals since the beginning of the 2008-09 season, and 15 more during the 2009 Calder Cup playoffs.

Practice schedule: The BEARS will practice Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with media availability after each skate at approximately 11:15 a.m. This will be the only local media availability for players and coaches this week.

Awards night Sunday: The BEARS will honor its own this Sunday when the Norfolk Admirals come to town at 6:00 p.m. The team's annual end of season awards ceremony will take place on the ice prior to puck drop.

Down the stretch they come: HERSHEY'S dynamic duo of Keith Aucoin and Alexandre Giroux head into the final two weeks of the season as the top two scorers in the AHL. Giroux won the league scoring title last season, with Aucoin finishing second. With two weeks to go in the regular season, Aucoin has 98 points, and Giroux has 95.
