Peoria Rivermen News Release

NEWS AND NOTES

Where they stand...The Rivermen currently sit in fifth place of the West Division with 80 points. Peoria is now just three points back of fourth-place Milwaukee for the final playoff spot with six games to play. The Rivermen still have two head-to-head meetings with Milwaukee remaining, including Friday night at the Bradley Center.

Race to the finish... Over the past 18 games, the Rivermen have points in 13 of them (11-5-1-1). Last season, the Rivermen went 14-2-4 to secure a second place finish in the West Division.

Lucky Charm...Fresh out of his junior season at the University of Notre Dame, the 18th overall pick in 2007 by the Blues, Ian Cole made his professional debut on Friday in Rockford. He scored his first pro goal and added an assist on Saturday at Carver Arena and followed it up with two more helpers on Sunday. The defenseman was also a plus-5 in his first three games.

Wamsley's Water Mark...Sunday's win marked the first time since Jan. 9 (1-1-1) that the Rivermen were at .500 under interim head coach Rick Wamsley. The Rivermen are 17-17-1-4 since Wamsley took over on Jan. 2.

Good timing...Sunday was Peoria's first win in the third game of a three-game in three-night stretch this season. They had gone 0-6-0-2 before beating Houston in a shootout.

March Forth...Ben Bishop finished March with a perfect 6-0-0 record (over a span of eight appearances). He collected a 2.78 goals-against average with a .903 save percentage.

Padding the stats...Cam Paddock had one of the best weeks of his professional career. On Saturday he registered the first three-point game of his American Hockey League career in his 254th game. On Sunday he scored for the third straight game for the first time in his professional career that has stretched over 431 games between the ECHL, AHL and NHL. He finished the week with four goals (in five periods) and two assists.

Fight Night...On Saturday, Jonas Junland's fight with Bracken Kearns was the Swedish defenseman's first fight in 139 AHL games. Derek Armstrong also collected his first fight of the season while Ryan Reaves fought for the team-leading 16th time.

Houston: No problem...The Rivermen won the final three games of their season series with Houston and finished 4-3-0-1 against their playoff opponent from a year ago. They also split last season's eight games with the Rivermen posting a 4-2-0-2 record. All-time the Rivermen have won 21 of the 44 regular season meetings with Houston.
