Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that they will host the first annual Hockey for Hope charity game on Saturday, April 3.
The Hockey for Hope charity game was organized by Brian Laing in memory of his aunt Connie who passed away in 2006 following a five year struggle with breast cancer. Laing will be raising funds through the games participants for the Lourdes Foundation.
"My aunt Connie was the most amazing woman. Even before being diagnosed with cancer, she went through many personal and economic hardships, but through it all she always had a smile on her face and never once complained. I was fortunate enough to know her and in knowing her, she helped me realize a lot about myself and the direction I wanted to take in life. Because of her, I'm a better person," explained Laing.
"Breast cancer is horrible and I saw first hand what she went through. It was heart breaking and people should not have to endure the pain she went through. Why not play the best game in world to support the cause?"
The rosters for the game are as follows;
Blue team: Eric Kelly, Pierre Laganiere, Jason Fenton, Chris Novitsky, Tom Forbes, Dave Evans, Brian Laing, Brian Burns, Joe Valenti, Nitins Parini, Adam Rominger, James Frawley, Conner Gates, Lisa Berry, James Rowlands, Piero Lisio, Rick Allen
White team: Joe Mastrogiacomo, Mark Rinker, Dave Schoonover, Eric Johnston, Michael Gorenflo, Romney White, Jim Lalley, John Klenovic, Andrew Reid, Joseph Fell, Matthew Johnson, Gary Lasky, Mike Zabadal, Dave Brown, Bob Blakeslee, Erik Lasky, Raymond Dellefave
The benefit game is free and open to the public. It is set to take place at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena at 4:15 p.m., prior to the B-Sens game versus the Norfolk Admirals (Face Off Against Cancer Night, presented by Lourdes). Fans are encouraged to wear pink in a show of support for those battling breast cancer.
